Dr Amy Freakes
General Practitioner
Dr Amy Freakes is a Primary Care Doctor who is passionate about providing personalised, evidence-based, holistic care with a strong focus on relationships.
She graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School, and completed her training at hospitals in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Johannesburg thereafter.
Having completed a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care she threw herself into emergency medicine, working in ERs around Cape Town for over 2 years. After seeing the outcome of the rising tide of lifestyle diseases in this setting, she felt called to address this increasing burden in a holistic manner – as a family doctor. She is happiest interacting with patients in an environment which allows time, warmth, deep connections and the privilege of growing with individuals and families.
Dr Freakes has a focus on preventative medicine, and is passionate about leveraging technology to monitor and optimise both acute and chronic conditions. She aims to involve patients in their health, empower them with access to information and serve as a partner on their journey toward their healthiest, best life.
