Dr Lauren Lee

General Practitioner

Dr Lauren Lee is a family practitioner working in private practice in Cape Town, South Africa. She has been in General Medical Practice for 17 years and enjoys the diverse challenges that present themselves when working within the family framework. She has an holistic approach to healthcare and partners with her patients to improve their physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Dr Lee gained her paediatric experience at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London and spent 3 years at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. She gained invaluable general medical skills at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, Johannesburg and spent a year working at a rural hospital (Ngwelezana) on the North East coast of South Africa.

Dr Lee graduated with distinction from The University of Cape Town in 2001 and has a special interest in child health as well as child and adult Mental Health. In 2006, she founded The Health Team, a multidisciplinary health centre where she welcomes patients of all ages. She currently works alongside 3 other GP’s, a psychiatrist and 2 dieticians. She has been working on the frontline of the Covid19 pandemic and in May 2019 co-founded Masks for Medics, a disaster management NGO. Masks for Medics was mandated to fund raise and purchase medical grade PPE which was then donated to frontline Healthcare workers to keep them safe during the Covid surges.

Dr Lee lives in Cape Town with her family and, while not doctoring, she enjoys hand building ceramics, loves traveling and leads an active outdoor life. She is passionate about maintaining excellent standards of medical care for every patient that walks through The Health Team doors.
